5/5/17: Fusing Show & Sale!

This Friday evening from 5–7 PM, we will be celebrating the art of kiln-formed glass by 7 talented artists who regularly visit the Stained Glass Garden and participate in our labs and workshops.

Every day in the shop, we get to witness the amazing creations of our customers as they purchase glass or work in the studio. Each artist has a unique approach to color combinations, subject matter, and imagining what a simple sheet of glass can become. We started our “Featured Artist” series with the goal of helping connect the Bay Area glass community and sharing your creations with a wider audience. Many of these artists are students who have developed incredible skills but still consider themselves amateurs and are on the verge of selling their work. Our gallery can provide a middle ground for both enthusiasts and professionals, offering space to exhibit, opportunities to explore pricing and presentation, and—hopefully—connections with other artists who share similar inspirations.

The annual Fusing Showcase exhibition is especially exciting because it brings together the unique styles of many of our kiln-forming artists working in the same space, while celebrating each individual interpretation of the techniques explored in the Fused Glass Lab and other workshops. My favorite part is reading the responses to our “Questions for Glass Artists” and gaining a little deeper insight into each artist’s process and inspiration.
